The future of Fashion

 

In the year 2080 the intersection of fashion, technology and biology will give a rise to a new era of living textiles, that will renew the way we interact with our clothing. Bacteria and fungi grow on our textiles and become smart textiles. The organisms create a form of communication with the human body and catches its needs. Textiles know how to react to natural, physical and emotional circumstances. 

 

The microorganisms can move towards and apart from each other. When the wearer feels warm the microorganisms live less compact to create a more breathable textile. But when you’re feeling cold, they grow toward each other for more isolation. This makes the garment multifunctional for many weather conditions. Everyday you are directly in contact with natural elements reducing the gap between humans and nature in urban communities. For this to work the garment needs many species living and working together for an efficient ecosystem. The biodiversity will not only be functional, it also ensures that many colors, patterns and textures are brought together to create unique looks.
